ROCKPORT — Ally Day and Brooke Curtis each scored three goals to lead the Gardiner girls lacrosse team to an 8-6 win over Camden Hills on Thursday.
Bryce Smith and Claire Crocker added goals for the Tigers (1-0). Goalie Maddy Cutler had 12 saves.
Addie Drinkwater had three goals for the Windjammers (0-1).
COLLEGE BASEBALL
HUSSON 9, ST. JOSEPH’S 4: Zachary Yates pitched seven innings of scoreless relief to lead Husson to the win in Standish.
Messalonskee grad Dylan Foster scored four runs for Husson (14-9). Waterville’s JT Whitten and Kyle Bishop each drove in two runs for the Eagles, while Dennis Meehan of Gardiner also drove in a pair.
The Monks are now 18-9.
COLLEGE SOFTBALL
MAINE 6, HUSSON 1: Jean Stevens hit a two-run homer and EmJ Fogel drove in a pair of runs to lead the Black Bears to a win over the Eagles in Orono.
Felicia Lennon, Jessica Burk and Shelby Obert each had a pair of hits for Maine (15-13). Kylie Sparks pitched six innings, striking out five batters to earn the win.
Chelsea Brenna drove in the lone run for Husson (15-7) with an RBI double in the fourth inning.
BATES 9-5, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 3-3: Kira Shaikh hit three home runs as the Bobcats swept the Beavers in a doublheader in Lewiston.
Shaikh smacked two of the homers in the first game, collecting five RBIs. She hit a two-run homer in the second game for Bates (5-12).
Erskine Academy graduate Meryl Bond smacked a three-run triple in the fifth inning of the first game for UMF (4-4).
