FREEPORT — Maine’s iconic outdoor apparel company L.L. Bean says it’s appointing two new independent directors to its corporate board.
L.L. Bean said Thursday it’s appointing Hugh Farrington, former chief executive officer of Hannaford Brothers Company, and Matthew Moellering, chief operating officer and vice president of Express Inc., in Columbus, Ohio.
Farrington held several positions with Hannaford over 30 years. He was the CEO for 10 years. Moellering has been with Express since 2007. Prior to that appointment, he was with Limited Brands and Procter & Gamble.
The L.L. Bean chair of the board of directors says the two individuals will provide direction and outside perspective. The company says a search for a third independent director will commence this year.
Correction: This story was revised at 1:35 p.m., May 10, 2014, to reflect the correct titles for Hugh Farrington and Matthew Moellering. Farrington was chief executive officer of Hannaford Brothers, not chief financial officer, and Moellering is chief operating officer of Express Inc., not chief financial officer.
