I’d like to thank the many volunteers who showed up on May 3 to help with the spring cleanup of Skowhegan’s downtown gardens. Rotary Club members, master gardeners and students from our high school policed, weeded and mulched the Triangle and Trail Head gardens.

They installed new plant material in one of the gardens and swept dirt from sidewalks and winter sand from roadside curbs. They also raked the grassy area near the Trail Head Garden. These 18 hard-working volunteers, who brought along their own tools and loads of enthusiasm, accomplished in less than two hours what would have taken me a week or more to do.

A job well done.
