JAY — Corrie Meehan had two hits, including a double, to lead Monmouth past Spruce Mountain 9-6 in a Mountain Valley Conference softball game Friday.
Paxton Lessard struck out five to earn the win for Monmouth (4-2).
Alex Bessey, Emily Hogan and Kaylee Leclerc each had doubles for Spruce Mountain (4-3).
WINTHROP 8, DIRIGO 2: Abby Helm smacked two home runs and had three RBIs to lead the Ramblers to a MVC win in Dixfield.
Cat Ouellette and Lilly Ouellette each hit solo home runs for Winthrop (4-1). Krissy Doughty struck out 10 batters to earn the win for the Ramblers.
Lauren Henderson hit a solo home run for Dirigo (2-3).
BASEBALL
MONMOUTH 15, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 4, 5 innings: Brandon Goff had three hits, including two doubles, to lead the Mustangs to a MVC win in Jay.
Hunter Richardson smacked a two-run homer for Monmouth (6-0) in the fourth inning, while Kyle Fletcher and Jariah Caissie each added doubles. Fletcher earned his first win of the season on the mound for the Mustangs.
Spruce Mountain falls to 3-4.
DIRIGO 10, WINTHROP 7: Ben Caprara had two singles, but it wasn’t enough for the Ramblers, who fell in the MVC game in Dixfield.
Nick Hall led Dirigo (6-1) with a double and a single. Kane Hutchins earned the win on the mound for the Cougars.
Winthrop falls to 3-2.
BOYS LACROSSE
MESSALONSKEE 17, DEERING 1: Albert Languet and Ben Weeks scored three goals and added two assists apiece to lead the Eagles to the Class A win in Portland.
Dan Condon and Ryan Erskine each had two goals and two assists while Jordon Holmes added two goals. Eric Van Der Karr and Dylan Jones each had a goal and an assist while Josh Yannelli had two goals and an assist and Jack Bernatchez a goal. Jake Smith made 12 saves in goal for Messalonskee (5-1). Deering is 1-4.
GARDINER 10, CAMDEN HILLS 9: Josh Caldwell scored four goals and two assists to lead the Tigers to the win Thursday in Rockport.
Skylar McMillan added two goals and an assist for Gardiner (3-1). Jake Truman, Logan Clark, Walker Norton and Michael Glazier also scored. J.D. Crocker made eight saves.
Parker Larsen scored three goals for Camden Hills (2-3) while Jack Warner had two.
