WINDSOR — The Northeast Livestock Expo will take place over three days in Windsor with an emphasis on encouraging interest in agriculture among young people.

The ninth annual expo begins Friday at the Windsor Fairgrounds. The first day of the event is geared at children and is expected to attract more than 1,000 people. It will include displays about types of food for livestock, veterinarians explaining livestock care, and a live horse with a drawn-on skeleton to illustrate its anatomy.

Food, livestock equipment and educational displays will be on hand all three days.

Gov. Paul LePage said in a statement that the event is “a great opportunity for kids to learn about Maine agriculture.” The event is open to the public and does not have an admission fee.
