MADISON — Madison Knight of Columbus Council 2399 was recently presented with the Ron Cote Memorial Award by Jarod White, district deputy representing the Maine State Council of the Knights of Columbus.

The Ron Cote Memorial Award is presented annually by the Maine State Council for having performed “the most unique service program” of all the Maine Councils.

The award winning program was a joint effort with Madison Cable access Channel 11. Channel 11 videographer Gary Allain, agreed to videotape a memorial service at a local cemetery. Fr. Massei of Christ the King Parish of Skowhegan, Madison and Bingham was the celebrant. The military service featured full military honors, taps, flag folding ceremony and attendance by American Legion members and other military representative.

While circumstance did not allow local council members to attend the Knight of Columbus convention in Bethel, recently, District Deputy Jarod White presented the award at the Sunday morning St. Sebastian Parish Mass.
