Some folks are predicting a small turnout for the June 10 Democratic primary. That’s too bad because there is an important decision to be made. We need to select the strongest candidate to send into the November general election.

A year and a half ago I backed David Bustin for the state senate and I gladly support him again this year. Bustin narrowly lost (238 votes out of more than 20,000) after a hard fought positive campaign.

Bustin is ready to serve. His experience in government is deep — having served as a state legislator and as mayor of Hallowell. He also knows the workings of state government through his eight years of service in Gov. Joe Brennan’s cabinet.

We need a strong candidate to represent our values in the fall election. That’s why I hope folks will turn out to vote for Bustin in the June 10 Democratic primary.
