I have been a small business owner in the Augusta area for more than 27 years, and my family roots run deep in the community. I support the referendum to expand and renovate the Lithgow Library.

I am one of 10 siblings, and my family experienced financial hardship while I was growing up. I would not be where I am today without the support of our community resources. The Lithgow Library is one of those resources and cultivates success for all community members.

A newly expanded and renovated Lithgow Library also will be able to accommodate local community groups and gatherings, further building community. Once expanded, the Lithgow Library will have the space necessary to offer and host more enrichment programs, which benefit all members of the community. These programs will enhance the future of all community members and business owners with a more-skilled work force.

If, as a community, we are to help nurture success for the future of our community, voting “yes” on the Lithgow Library referendum on June 10 is absolutely the right thing to do.
