NEWPORT — Fourth-seeded Nokomis made quick work of 13th-seeded Belfast on Tuesday, dropping the Lions 13-1 in five innings via the mercy rule to advance to the Eastern B softball quarterfinals.
Mikayla Charters led the way for the Warriors with a double and a triple, while Becky Orcutt, Courtney Carlson, Libby Dunivan and Shannon Kasprzak each finished with a pair of singles.
Nokomis (16-1) will play No. 5 Oceanside (11-5) Thursday after the Mariners won their prelim against Foxcroft 6-3.
WINSLOW 10, MEDOMAK 3: Winning pitcher Hannah Doble had two doubles and five RBIs and Jenna Petrovic singled, doubled and drove in a run as the Raiders rolled in an Eastern B prelim game in Winslow.
Hillary Libby had two hits and scored two runs as well for Winslow (12-5).
Vanessa Rancourt had a single and an RBI for the Panthers (6-11).
PRESQUE ISLE 10, ERSKINE 3: The Eagles gave up six runs in the bottom of the first inning and were bounced from the Eastern B playoffs by the Wildcats (12-5) in Presque Isle.
Taylor Boucher led Erskine with a single and a double. Amber Grady, Avery Bond and Taylor McLaggan each had two singles in the loss.
Erskine finishes the season at 7-10, while Presque Isle advances to play top-seeded Gardiner in the quarters Thursday.
HAMPDEN 10, MT. BLUE 6: After falling behind 10-1, the ninth-seeded Cougars scored five runs in the final two innings but it was not enough as the No. 8 Broncos knocked Mt. Blue out of the Eastern Class A playoffs.
Lauren Guppy led the Cougars with two singles, an RBI and one run scored, while Kiana Thompson had two runs scored and three stolen bases.
Abby Lord and Courtney Dunton paced Hampden with two singles each.
The Cougars finished the season at 7-10, while the Broncos advance to play at top-seeded Cony Thursday at 6 p.m.
