I know I am an old fogey — driving 65 miles per hour seems perfectly reasonable to me.
It is common sense that if we raise the speed limit, the result will be more accidents and more serious consequences. Human nature being what it is, some of us will always exceed the speed limit, but raising it just gives those people cover — and they will go another 5 mph faster. So then are we going to raise it to 75?
For years we have heard that we as a nation should conserve gas. A higher speed limit means we burn more gas. I just don’t get it. The rationale given is not logical to me.
Keep it at 65 — assume most people will go 70 — and leave it at that.
