AUGUSTA — Joe and Arlene McVety have announced the engagement of their son, Wiley, to Melanie Renell, of Arundel, daughter of Jon and Patricia Renell.

Wiley is a graduate of Cony High School and Unity College, where he met Melanie. Wiley graduated with a bachelor of science in conservation law enforcement. Melanie graduated with a bachelor of science in wildlife.

Melanie is currently working as a veterinary assistant at Blake Vet, and Wiley is currently at second lieutenant serving in the Maine Army National Guard, and working as a deputy for the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

An Aug. 16, 2014, wedding is planned.
