A section of Town House Road in Chelsea remains impassible after heavy rain and flooding washed it out overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

A section of the road washed away, leaving a ditch the town’s fire chief estimated to be five feet deep, 10 feet long and eight feet wide.

On Friday, Scott Arnold, who lives near the washout, said workers were taking measurements Friday morning in advance of a fix, but the hole remained.

The area is cordoned off, but residents can take detours to reach their homes.

A smaller hole on Dondero Road was repaired.
