NORRIDGEWOCK — A 17-year-old boy was taken by helicopter to a Bangor hospital Wednesday night after he was ejected from his car in what appeared to have been a speed-related accident, police said.

The vehicle rolled over on River Road at around 10:17 p.m., according to Somerset County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster.

The accident remains under investigation, but speed appears to have been a factor, he said.

The name of the boy, a Norridgewock resident, is not being released, and Lancaster said he did not have information on his condition. He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

There were no other occupants in the car, a 2004 blue Mazda, and the boy was not wearing a seat belt, said Lancaster.

The Norridgewock Fire Department and Skowhegan Fire Department also responded to the accident.
