WINSLOW — The Messalonskee boys hockey team raced out to an 8-0 lead and managed to hold on for a 11-8 win over Houlton/Hodgdon on Monday at Sukee Arena.
Jake Dexter paced the Eagles (10-1-0) with three goals and two assists, while Jeff Frasca made 19 saves in his first career start in goal.
Brandon Dunn led Houlton/Hodgdon (0-11-0) with four goals.
LAWRENCE/SKOWHEGAN 7, EDWARD LITTLE 3: The Bandits picked up their fourth straight win with a victory over the Red Eddies at Sukee Arena.
Trey Michonski and Andrew Carpenter led the way for the Bandits (5-5-1) with two goals each.
Max Girard, Gibson Dilodovico and Ben Steele each scored goals for Edward Little (6-6-1).
BOYS BASKETBALL
MESSALONSKEE 64, MT. BLUE 33: Nick Mayo scored 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had four blocks to lead the Eagles to a Kennebec Valley Athletics Conference Class A win over the Cougars in Oakland.
Taylor Turner added 10 points and had seven rebounds for Messalonskee (10-4).
Drew Parsons led Mt. Blue (1-12) with seven points.
ST. DOMINIC 60, CARRABEC 50: Dustin Crawford scored 20 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Cobras, who fell to the Saints in a Mountain Valley Conference game in Auburn.
William Crawford added 13 points for Carrabec (1-11).
Becket Wagner scored 30 points for St. Dom’s (6-7).
BOOTHBAY 76, MT. ABRAM 38: Quinton Hannah scored 18 points for the Roadrunners in a loss to Boothbay in Salem.
Dan Luce scored seven points, while Hunter York added six points for Mt. Abram (3-10).
John Hepburn scored 15 points for Boothbay (12-1).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
CARRABEC 52, ST. DOMINIC 29: Emma Pluntke scored 22 points to lead the Cobras to an MVC win over the Saints in Auburn.
Adrianna Cossaboom scored eight points, while Libby Chestnut added seven points for Carrabec (8-5).
Faith Grady scored 19 points for St. Dom’s (3-9).
MT. BLUE 55, MESSALONSKEE 45: Addie Brinkman scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Cougars to a KVAC A win over the Eagles in Farmington.
Caitlin Kane scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds for Mt. Blue (9-4).
Hallee Flewelling scored 14 points for Messalonskee (6-8).
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 66, KENTS HILL 26: Abby Dubois scored 16 points to lead the Seagulls to the victory in Kents Hill.
Peyton Feitz added 11 points for Old Orchard (9-2).
Allie Helfrich scored a game-high 18 points to lead Kents Hill (2-5).
