BURLINGTON, Vt. — Connor Leen scored two goals to lead the University of Maine men’s hockey team to a 4-2 win over Vermont in the first round of the Hockey East playoffs.

Both teams are tied 1-1 in the best-of-three series, with the deciding game to be played Sunday night in Burlington.

Cedric Lacroix and Brian Morgan added goals for the Black Bears (14-21-3, 8-12-2 Hockey East).

Brendan Bradley and Colin Markinson each scored goals for the Catamounts (19-13-4, 10-9-3 Hockey East).

BASEBALL

FLORIDA 6, MAINE 1: Alex Cabrera had two of the three hits collected by the Black Bears in a loss to the Gators in Gainesville, Fla.

Luke Merrill smacked a solo home run for Maine (4-11). Scott Heath went six innings and stuck out five hitters for Maine.

Mike Rivera had four hits for Florida (13-2).

SOFTBALL

PENN 5, MAINE 4: Emj Fogel had two hits for the Black Bears in a loss to the Quakers in Clearwater, Fla.

Erika Leonard and Janelle Bouchard each hit solo home runs for Maine (5-8).

Sydney Turchin smacked a double for Penn (1-3).

MEN’S LACROSSE

HAMILTON 12, COLBY 10: John Grimaldi scored 3 goals and had an assist for the Mules in a New England Small College Athletic Conference loss to the Continentals in Clinton, N.Y.

Alex Rutan scored two goals, while Derek Youngman and Austin Sayre each added a goal for Colby (1-1, 1-1 NESCAC).

Sam Sweet scored three goals and had three assists for Hamilton.

RIVIER 19, UM-FARMINGTON 1: Cameron McAllister scored the lone goal for the Beavers in a loss to the Raiders in Nashua, N.H.

Joseph Maldonado had eight saves for UMF (0-1).

Kevin Dembkoski scored four goals for Rivier (4-0).

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

HAMILTON 10, COLBY 9: Abby Hatch and Lexie Perticone each scored three goals as the Mules fell to the Continentals in a NESCAC game in Waterville.

Dana Swaffield, Abby Hooper and Sara Miller each added a goal for Colby (1-1, 1-1 NESCAC).

Nora Klemmer, Ashleight Stephan and Morgan Fletcher each scored three goals for Hamilton (3-0, 2-0 NESCAC).
