AUGUSTA — For the second consecutive season, the Hall-Dale girls tennis team squared off against Wiscasset in a Western C quarterfinal match.
And for the second year in a row, the Bulldogs had little trouble with the Wolverines in a 5-0 whitewash.
Top-seeded Hall-Dale (14-0) rolled to an efficient victory over No. 8 Wiscasset (5-8) Monday afternoon at A-COPI Tennis and Sports Center.
“It was a good, quality opponent that we played,” Hall-Dale coach Guy Cousins said. “It was a good match.”
It was certainly a quick one, too, as the Bulldogs wasted little time moving on to the regional semifinals, where they will host No. 4 North Yarmouth Academy on Thursday.
No. 1 singles player Clio Barr sank Miranda McIntyre 6-1, 6-2, while No. 2 singles player Nicole Pelletier also cruised to victory. She defeated Hanna Foye 5-1, by default. Rio Yokokawa bested Maeve Carlson 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles action, Autumn St Pierre and Thea Sweet avenged a regular season defeat to Brooke Carleton and Hayhlee Craig with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. In second doubles, Rose Warren and Addie Davis defeated Hannah Welborn and Alisyn Richardon 6-1, 6-2.
“We’re going to need play a great match against NYA to get the result we want,” Cousins said.
