Is Paul LePage delusional? So often whenever there is resistance to his policies, some that would bankrupt Maine, he offers a rebuke: “They ignore the wishes of hard-working Mainers.” But he holds hostage the Land for Maine’s Future bonds that voters approved, outlining his arrogance. So who is actually ignoring the wishes of Mainers?.
Do Mainers want to reject expanding Medicaid? Is it our wish to reject millions that would assist hospitals, nursing homes, our poor and unfortunate? How much debt is there for hospitals today compared to the past?
LePage terminates funding to assist those seeking asylum, saying, “Maine people are more in need.” But he cuts funding to practically every social program, general assistance programs, mental and health programs, food banks, palliative care, child care, education, affordable housing. Are these really the wishes of the people?
Meanwhile, LePage secretly squanders nearly a million dollars of taxpayers money to a known fraudulent consulting firm and thousands for outside lawyers. Under his watch, the state blows $16 million in the Great Northern Paper debacle. He causes the Legislature to waste thousands with his childish veto scheme. But don’t dare buy a Popsicle with an EBT card.
LePage is all in favor of tax relief for the wealthy: Tax free zones, grants, credits, tax breaks, more loopholes for corporations.
All at the expense of the poor. Rather than contemplating on creating jobs and opportunity, he humiliates the unfortunate and unemployed by requiring them to apply for nonexistent jobs. He rejects collective bargaining, investing in infrastructure and green energy. LePage is an embarrassment in the national media. Economically and ethically with LePage in charge, Maine has been and remains at the bottom of the country. Yes, LePage is insulting and delusional. His worst delusion is thinking he’s smarter and knows all.
