The dedication of the new Starks Vietnam Era Memorial plaque recently was attended by 30 to 35 people.
The new plaque now has all 14 veterans’ names spelled correctly. Of the 14 listed, four had an error in their name, according to a news release from Selectmen Paul Frederic.
The plaque heading also was changed to Vietnam Era Veterans from Korean and Vietnamese Veterans. It was discovered that none of the 14 individuals listed had served during the conflict in Korea.
Robert Pressey, now living in Maryland, was the only one present at the event who is listed on the plaque.
The new plaque is mounted on an 1780’s millstone from a gristmill that existed in Starks Village before Starks was incorporated in 1795.
