As a longtime subscriber to your newspaper, I am well-accustomed to your fair and balanced reporting.

As such, I’m sure that Anson tax collector Claudia Viles will receive an equal amount of positive press after she is found guilty of nothing more than human error — if even that.

Your thinly veiled accusations and innuendo are a bit premature, and I believe the article (“Anson tax collector remains at work after lawsuit filed ,” Aug. 13) that implied a comparison to Carole Swan (former Chelsea selectwoman) is very close to being libelous.

I look forward to reading about Viles and her many great years of community service for Anson.
