It’s time for people to take back control of our elections and ensure that politicians are accountable to us, rather than wealthy special interests who can write big campaign checks.
That’s why I support Question 1 on Nov. 3.
Question 1 will help Maine lead the way on campaign finance reform by increasing transparency in elections, strengthening fines and penalties for those who break our election laws and restoring Clean Election funding so candidates can run for office without being dependent and beholden to deep-pocketed special interests, corporations and their lobbyists.
With the amount of money being spent on elections these days, it’s easy to get discouraged and feel like our votes and our voices don’t matter.
This November, the people of Maine have an opportunity to change that and put control of elections back where it belongs — in the hands of the people.
I hope people throughout Maine will join me in voting yes on Question 1 on Nov. 3.
