FAIRFIELD — Alma and Doug Matthieu celebrated 50 years of marriage on March 20, 2015, quietly at their home.

Alma L. Sanders and Douglas P. Matthieu were married on the first day of spring, March 20, 1965 at Fernadle Wedding Chapel in Fernando, California.

The Matthieu’s are retired. He was employed by Huhtamaki in Fairfield. She was employed by Kennebec Montessori School in Fairfield.

They are the parents of two children, Stacie McCoy, and her children, Jackson and Miller, of New Hampshire; and Kirk Matthieu and his wife. Cathy, sons Clay, Gavin and Reese and daughter Madison, of Orrington.

The Matthieus are planning a trip in the near future.
