Amelia E. Denney, daughter of Martha Denney, of Haverford, Pennsylvania, and Waterville, and Ewan Good of Farmington, is among the first group of Hamilton College students participating in the Hamilton Adirondack Program, a place-based, semester-long learning experience that combines rigorous academic study with the skills and understanding gained through field experience in the Adirondack Park with local organizations in Clinton, New York.

The focus is on local, interdisciplinary environmental issues with global implications and applications.

The program offers students a 15-week residency in the Park, at The Mountain House in Keene, New York, in the High Peaks region, and the opportunity to learn about the nature of place and place-making through stewardship and the liberal arts. Students take four courses including an internship with one of 50 local partners such as advocacy groups and non-profits.

Denney, a hispanic studies and neuroscience major at Hamilton, is a Waterville High School graduate.
