As the oldest and longest serving member of the Readfield Fire Department, now in my 62nd year in the fire service, I want to thank the people of the town for their generosity of approving the replacement of our 30-year-old pumper by a more than 3 to 1 margin.

With a margin of approval of this much it is heart warming to see so much support for our department. There has never been a good financial time in my six decades-long career to purchase a new firetruck.

To see so many senior citizens with fixed incomes turning out to support us in our public safety efforts is a wonderful way to thank me and my fellow members for a job well done. We will continue to serve the people of Readfield the best that we can and will be forever indebted to them for their support.
