I always look forward to reading J.P. Devine’s column but he brought me to tears on Nov. 29 with his realistic view of America’s immigrant history, “Let’s not forget that we all once were immigrants.”
Yes, this country is a country of immigrants, and that rich diversity has helped make it great.
Yes, when large groups of one nationality or religion come all at once people are intimidated and adjustments need to be made.
Yes, some Americans don’t want to do the work that needs to be done.
Someone needs to tell the federal government to get busy and hire more people to do all the paperwork because a lot of immigrants are here and a lot more are coming. Let’s make room for them and welcome them.
