SOUTH CHINA — Matt Clary made two free throws with 19 seconds left, Maine Central Institute missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer and the Erskine boys basketball team prevailed 38-36 Friday night.
“It was a very exciting game,” Erskine coach Tim Bonsant said.
Noah Bonsant scored seven points to go along with 12 rebounds and five blocked shots to help power the Eagles (1-4). Trevor Hubbard scored a team-high 10 points while Josh Reed added nine.
Treston Grier scored nine points to lead the Huskies (2-2).
MESSALONSKEE 83, CAMDEN HILLS 47: Nathan Violette scored 33 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Eagles to the Class A North victory in Oakland.
Violette added five steals and four assists for Messalonskee (3-2). James Lathrop finished with 28 points and five rebounds.
Gage Corson scored 18 points to lead Camden Hills (1-4).
WATERVILLE 56, MT. BLUE 51: Junior Devin LeBrun scored a career-high 23 points, including three 3-pointers, to lift the host Purple Panthers to their first win of the season.
Devon Begin added 12 points for Waterville (1-4) while Justin Kornsey had 10.
Mt. Blue (0-5) was led by Zack Mittelstadt (18 points) and Devon Hoyt (14).
VALLEY 67, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 35: Cody Laweryson scored a game-high 21 points and Collin Miller added 12 to lead the Cavaliers to the East-West Conference victory in Bingham.
Austin Cates chipped in with 11 points for the Cavaliers (6-0) as well. Laweryson also had 11 rebounds and four blocks. Miller finished with a double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds.
Jet Archer and Skyler Archer each scored 10 points to lead Seacoast Christian.
WINSLOW 65, BELFAST 50: Spencer Miranda scored a game-high 17 points to power the Black Raiders to the Class B victory in Belfast.
Jack Morneault and Keanu Earle each scored eight points to lead Winslow (5-0) as well.
Vane Bielenberg scored 11 points to lead the Lions (2-2).
OCEANSIDE 63, LAWRENCE 54: Nick Mazurek had 20 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Mariners in Rockport.
Mike Norton Jr. added 12 points for Oceanside (5-0).
Mason Cooper scored a game-high 23 points to lead Lawrence (2-3).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
WINSLOW 76, BELFAST 26: Heather Kervin scored 12 points and Paige Trask added 11 as the Black Raiders rolled to the Class B North victory in Winslow.
Sarah Guimond and Alexa Petrovic each scored eight points for the Raiders (5-0) as well.
Miriah Sturgis scored eight points to pace the Lions (1-4).
MESSALONSKEE 79, CAMDEN HILLS 43: Sophie Holmes scored a game-high 19 points and McKenna Brodeur added 18 to lead the Eagles to the Class A North victory in Camden Hills. Brodeur also had 10 rebounds.
Kelsey Dillon scored 12 points for Messalonskee (4-1).
Ally Turner had five rebounds, eight assists and six points for the Eagles as well.
Charlotte Messer scored 12 points to pace Camden Hills (1-4).
VALLEY 52, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 10: Haven Mayhew, Jordan Belanger and Samantha West each scored 11 points to pace the Cavaliers (2-4) to the East/West Conference victory in Bingham.
Seacoast (0-5) was led by Abby Wirling with six points.
MADISON 45, MT. ABRAM 27: Kayla Bess scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs to the Mountain Valley Conference victory in Madison.
Erin Whalen had 15 rebounds to go along with eight points for Madison (5-1) while Lauren Hay chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Sally Stevens and Summer Ross each scored seven points to lead Mt Abram (1-5).
MT. BLUE 45, WATERVILLE 32: Caitlin Kane scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Cougars to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory in Farmington.
Mackenzie Harris added 14 points for Mt. Blue (2-3).
Jordan Jabar led Waterville (1-5) with 10 points while Fotini Shanos had nine.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 54, CARRABEC 30: Karen Flaherty scored 16 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead the Falcons to the MVC win.
Ashley Russell added 12 points for Mountain Valley (5-0).
Liberty Chestnut and Bailey Atwood each scored six points for Carrabec (2-3).
LAWRENCE 74, OCEANSIDE 35: Dominique Lewis scored a game-high 19 points and added eight assists to lead the Bulldogs in Rockport.
Hunter Mercier added 10 points and nine rebounds for Lawrence (5-0) while Molly Folsom chipped in 14 points.
Oceanside (2-3) was led by Anna Curtis and McKenna Brooks with six points apiece.
SKOWHEGAN 31, MOUNT VIEW 19: Tracy Swanson scored a game-high 14 points, including eight from the free throw line, as the Indians prevailed in Thorndike. Alyssa Everett chipped in with six points for the Indians (3-2) as well.
Jenni Nadeau scored eight points to lead Mount View (1-3).
