WATERVILLE — Spectrum Generations will sponsor a free, four-day leader training for the Living Well for Better Health Chronic Disease Self-Management workshop series. Training will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 17, 18, 24 and 25 at the Hathaway Creative Center.

The program is a series of six, 2½ hour classes held weekly for six weeks. People with different chronic health problems attend together. Program participants demonstrate significant improvements in symptom management, communication, exercise, general health, fatigue, disability and social/role activities limitations.

The workshop is led by pairs of leaders who have chronic health conditions themselves, or take care of someone with a chronic condition. The leaders follow a structured workshop outline that builds the confidence of participants to manage their own health condition.

Spectrum Generations provides ongoing support and class materials to trained leaders. Characteristics necessary to become a leader include being comfortable facilitating and speaking in front of groups. Once training is completed, leaders then co-facilitate one or more workshops within six months.
