The petition to repeal Tuesday’s override vote suspends the city operating budget, but the council will try to find $750,000 more to cut, bringing the tax rate down $1, and get a new budget passed.

The revaluation, which is one reason some residents’ tax bills are going up, is the first in 24 years and more evenly spreads the tax burden among property owners, city officials said Friday.
