Bath police identified the woman who was struck and killed by a passing car as she walked to work at Bath Iron Works Wednesday morning.

Paula K. Caruso, 70, was crossing Washington Street when she was struck about 6:05 a.m. by another BIW employee, Edward Buzzell, 57, of Bath, who was also on his way to work.

Caruso, of Wiscassett, was pronounced dead at the scene, Bath police said. She had worked at BIW for less than a year, police said.

Buzzell has not been charged, but Lt. Robert Savary said the investigation into the circumstances of the crash continues.
