National Volunteer Week is April 10-16.
President Richard Nixon established National Volunteer Week with an executive order in 1974. Every sitting U.S. president along with U.S. mayors and governors, since 1974 have issued a proclamation during National Volunteer Week urging Americans to give their time to community outreach organizations.
