READFIELD — Maranacook Community High School hosted a season-opening meet for a number of area track teams on Friday in Readfield.

In both the boys and girls meets Waterville held off Messalonskee for the win. In the boys meet, the Purple Panthers scored 156 points and were followed by the Eagles (146), Cony (115), Mt. Blue (65 1/2), Mount View (57 1/2) and Maranacook (55).

The Waterville girls totaled 146 points to finish ahead of Messalonskee (104), Mount View (96), Maranacook (72), Cony (58), Kents Hill (46) and Mt. Blue (46).
