READFIELD — Jason Brooks had a double, a single, an RBI and stole home as Maranacook defeated Spruce Mountain 6-2 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A baseball game Wednesday.
Max McQuillen added two singles and two RBIs for Maranacook (1-0). Avery Beckwith earned the pitching win.
Noah Preble led Spruce Mountain (0-1) with two singles.
SKOWHEGAN 6, CONY 1: Isaiah Vigue threw a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking none, to lead the Indians to a KVAC A win in the opening game for both teams.
Isaac Witham had a pair of singles for Skowhegan (1-0), while Brendan Curran doubled.
Riley Boivin took the loss for Cony (0-1).
MESSALONSKEE 8, MT. ARARAT 2: Tyler Lewis had four singles to pace the Messalonskee offense in a KVAC A win in Topsham.
Josh Casey added a double and a single for Messalonskee (1-0) while Sam Bell chipped in two singles. Josh Joy pitched five innings to earn the win.
Ryan Mello doubled for Mt. Ararat (0-1).

MESSALONSKEE 11, MT. ARARAT 0: Kirsten Pelletier pitched a one-hitter to lead Messalonskee to the KVAC A win in Topsham.
The hit off Pelletier, who struck out 11 and walked three, came in the sixh inning. Katie Guarino led Messalonskee’s (1-0) offense with four singles. Sarah Labbe added two doubles and Taylor Easler chipped in two singles. Mt. Ararat is 0-1.
