I really enjoyed reading the article about the Foshay-Carlton gift shop in Winthrop (“Winthrop couple quietly marks 45th year running downtown card shop,” April 15).

Mrs. Carlton, as I knew her, was my second- and fourth-grade teacher in the 1970s. I have fond memories of her and am so pleased to hear that she and her husband are doing so well.
