AUGUSTA — City police are investigating a Tuesday robbery at The Big Apple convenience store on Stone Street.

The incident took place around 5 a.m., according to Sgt. Jason Cote. The suspect, who can be seen in a security camera photo taken at the store, showed no weapon and told employees that a robbery was taking place, Cote said.

“The suspect basically was able to get an undetermined amount of cash,” Cote said.

Cote described the suspect as a woman who was about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighed about 150 pounds. She wore plaid pajama pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses at the time of the robbery, he said.

Police asked anyone with information about the suspect to contact Detective Christopher Blodgett at 626-2370, ext. 3422, or by email at [email protected].

“There’s not a whole lot right now,” Cote said Tuesday morning, “but we’re hoping that the public can assist and identify the suspect.”
