JACKMAN — Mary Lee Brown was presented the Secretary of State’s Eighth Grade Citizenship Award by Senator Rodney Whittemore at the school’s end-of-the-year assembly on June 7.

This award is presented to Maine students who understand the importance of academic success, take responsibility for their work and contribute to their community.

Along with meeting those qualities, Mary Lee served on the Middle School Student Council for four years — president during her 8th grade. She volunteers at the Northland Living Center.

She is also an athlete on the school’s basketball and softball teams.
