A truck and trailer overturned Thursday afternoon in the area of Whitehouse Road on Route 3 in Vassalboro, according to a news release from Kennebec County Sheriff Ryan Reardon.

The vehicle, a 1997 F-250 owned and driven by Jason Glick, 36, of Montville, sustained significant damage on the driver’s side. Glick was not injured.

The truck was carrying three large steel I-beams about 20 feet long. The release said deputies indicated the trailer carrying the beams experienced some kind of brake failure causing the truck and trailer to jackknife. The truck and trailer turned east down the hill toward Whitehouse Road. The trailer spilled the load, and Route 3 continue to be blocked.

The road was expected to be cleared within the hour, Reardon said, and charges are possible.

Deputies responded to the scene around 12:45 p.m.
