MONMOUTH — Monmouth girls soccer coach Gary Trafton is slowing things down a bit this season.

“Things are a lot different,” Trafton said. “We’re working a little bit more on skills right now. We can’t go quite as fast as we did last year. This year, we have to slow it down a little. We’re teaching more fundamentals. We’re young.
Monmouth had nine freshmen come out this season, up from just three a season ago. The club returns just three seniors.
“We have a good little core,” Trafton added, “but now I have to piece together new kids into real important positions.”
