Police say two people were injured when the car they were driving in crashed while they were having an argument.

The Harpswell Neck Fire and Rescue Department was called to a crash in the area of 1327 Harpswell Neck Road at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. First responders found that a 2013 Nissan Versa had left the road and struck a tree, totaling the vehicle.

The driver, Eric Finnerty, 26, of Milton, Massachusetts, was driving at high speed when he was unable to negotiate a curve and left the roadway, according to police. He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious leg injuries.

The only passenger, 20-year-old April Roseboro of Brunswick, was taken to Mid Coast Hospital with minor injuries.

Police said it appears Finnerty and Roseboro were arguing at the time of the crash.
