What is the purpose of political polls?

Information on how others plan to vote has no relevance to any voter. We decide how we stand on candidates and issues. The only purpose for polls is to influence votes for or against those candidates or issues. Many are unable to decide where they stand and only want to be on the winning side. Hence the polls.
