Police believe alcohol factored into a motorcycle crash in Madrid Township Sunday night that seriously injured a Rangeley man, sending him by Lifeflight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Keith Nowers, 55, was riding a 2006 Honda motorcycle when he apparently veered off the road to the right and rolled over, said Franklin County Chief Deputy Steven Lowell. The crash occurred while Nowers was traveling west on Reeds Mill Road in the Franklin County township and at the intersection of Reeds Mill Road and Calvin Gray Road.

Nowers suffered head injuries and was listed in serious condition as of Sunday night, Lowell said. The crash report didn’t say whether Nowers was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Lowell said it appears alcohol was involved in the single-vehicle crash.
