A 16-year-old was arrested in Winslow after hitting the side of a truck while making a turn onto the Ticonic Bridge.

Friday night around 8 p.m., the juvenile was driving a 1997 Buick LeSabre and turning left onto the Ticonic Bridge that connects Waterville to Winslow when the driver merged into the other lane, hitting a 2016 Chevy Silverado. The juvenile didn’t stop the car there, according to Winslow Police Sgt. Haley Fleming, but eventually pulled over for police on Augusta Road.

The 16-year-old was arrested on a charge of operating without a license and in violation of conditions or restrictions, because the juvenile had been drinking and was under 21, Fleming said, as well as charges of transporting liquor while a minor and possession of marijuana. The juvenile was also arrested on a charge of falsifying physical evidence, as he or she attempted to conceal items from police that held evidentiary value, Fleming said, though he couldn’t give more detail.

No one was injured in the accident but it caused about $1,000 damage to the truck and $1,500 to the car, Fleming estimated.
