WATERVILLE — The Bereans took to their new home court in fine fashion on Saturday, racing out to an early lead and never looking back as Temple Academy beat Seacoast Christian 50-22 in a Class D girls basketball season opener for both teams.
Kiara Carr led Temple with a game-high 25 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, as the Bereans opened up a 27-2 lead after the first quarter and 39-7 at halftime.
Veronica Rossignol and Selam Heinrich each added eight points for Temple in the win.
Courtney Williams paced Seacoast with 14 points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
TEMPLE 49, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 48: Joe Xu scored a game-high 22 points to lift the Bereans to the Class D win in Waterville.
Brad Smith added 13 points for Temple (1-0).
Sky Archer led Seacoast (0-1) with 13 points while Jesse Towne added 11.
RICHMOND 57, ISLESBORO 47: Zach Small scored a game-high 28 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead the Bobcats to the win in Islesboro.
Matt Rines added seven points and Cody Tribbet added six for Richmond (2-0).
Avery Grindle led Islesboro (0-1) with 26 points.
