RANGELEY — Nolan Boone’s bucket with seven-tenths of a second remaining in the game completed the Lakers’ comeback as Rangeley topped Vinalhaven 55-53 in East/West Conference boys basketball action Saturday.
Rangeley (3-5) overcame a five-point third-quarter deficit for the win. Carl Trafton and Kyle LaRochelle each finished with 16 points for the Lakers, while Boone had 10.
Keon Arey netted a game-high 19 for Vinalhaven (5-4).
VALLEY 59, SEARSPORT 46: Austin Cates had a double-double with 27 points and 19 rebounds, and the Cavaliers connected on six shots from beyond the arc to take the inter-conference win in Searsport.
Josh Brown added nine points and eight rebounds for Valley (7-0). Dillon Beane chipped in with six points and eight boards.
Searsport (4-4) was led by a 22-point night from Liam MacMillan.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
RANGELEY 44, VINALHAVEN 39: Sydney Royce scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Lakers to the East/West Conference win in Rangeley.
Celia Philbrick added nine points and six rebounds for Rangeley (6-2).
Beja Doughty led Vinalhaven (6-2) with a game-high 15 points.
