WATERVILLE — A car rolled onto its side around 11:50 a.m. Tuesday after the driver became distracted, according to police.

Victor Garay, 35, of Winslow, was driving away from the Alfond Youth Center on North Street in a 2013 Toyota Rav-4 when his cellphone fell to the floor, Sgt. Alden Weigelt said.

Garay reached down to grab the cellphone as it was falling, losing his focus on driving, Weigelt said. He ran his car up onto a snowbank, which then tipped the car over onto its left side, Weigelt said.

Garay was the only person in the car at the time and did not suffered any injury. Police called a towing company to right the car again, but Weigelt said he didn’t know if the car was damaged enough to be towed away.
