A Rumford man was arrested Wednesday after kidnapping a woman on her way to work in Lewiston, police said.
Joshua J. Brown, 41, was arrested on felony charges of Class A kidnapping and Class C unlawful sexual contact, according to a release from the Lewiston Police Department.
The victim, who did not know Brown, told police he approached her while she was walking to work on Lisbon Street about 4 a.m. Wednesday. He forced her into his car, where the unwanted sexual contact occurred. She was able to get away and get help from someone nearby, who called the police.
Brown is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail with bail set at $10,000. He is slated to be arraigned Friday.
Police detectives are continuing the investigation.
