A Sanford man has been charged with selling methamphetamine following a two-month investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Drug enforcement agents from the York District Task Force had been investigating meth sales in the Sanford area and made several undercover purchases from 28-year-old Shane Thyng, according to police.

Last week, MDEA agents, Sanford police and the Southern Maine Violent Offenders Task Force served arrest and search warrants at Thyng’s Emery Street apartment, but were unable to locate him. Agents found 5.8 grams of manufactured methamphetamine in the apartment, according to police.

Agents found Thyng at a home on Grammar Road in Sanford on Tuesday and he was arrested without incident on a Class B charge of unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs (methamphetamine). He is being held at York County Jail pending his first court appearance and his bail has been set at $10,000 cash.
