KINGSTON, R.I. — The following local students were awarded degrees at the University of Rhode Island’s 131st Commencement on May 20-21.

Madeline Emily Wiegman, of Leeds, received a Bachelor of Science, medical laboratory science, summa cum laude.

Chelsea Watts, of Manchester, received a Master of Arts, history.

Students who received the honor summa cum laude graduated with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.7.
