A man found dead in Portland’s West End Tuesday morning likely died of a cardiac event, police said Thursday.

The 28-year-old man’s body was discovered about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Danforth and Vaughan streets by a passer-by.

The man’s next of kin have been notified, and the man had a known heart condition, Martin said. Police said they do not plan to release his identity.

The body was found under a small tree between the sidewalk and a fence of a home at the intersection facing the Western Promenade and Portland Harbor.
