FAIRFIELD — Camryn Caldwell scored 15 points as the Lawrence girls basketball team handed Messalonskee a 58-43 loss in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Wednesday night.
Caldwell was one of four Bulldogs to finish in double digits.
Molly Folsom had a double-double for Lawrence (2-0) with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Brooklynn Lambert and Keagan Alley also had 10 points.
Gabrielle Wener scored a game-high 18 points for defending Class A state champion Messalonskee (0-2).
RANGELEY 69, VALLEY 25: Natasha Haley was three steals shy of a triple-double in the Lakers’ season-opening win in Rangeley.
Haley finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds and even steals for Rangeley (1-0). Brooke Egan added 14 points and 11 steals in the win.
Kennedy Savoy paced Valley (1-1) with eight points.
MADISON 62, TELSTAR 24: Sydney LeBlanc scored 16 points and collected five assists to lead the Bulldogs to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Madison.
Ashley Emery scored 11 points for Madison (2-0), while Lauren Hay and Katie Worthen added nine points apiece.
Luci Rothwell scored 16 for Telstar (0-2).
BOYS BASKETBALL
FOREST HILLS 89, NORTH HAVEN 45: Parker Desjardins scored a game-high 21 points and Brandon Gilboe added 19 as the Tigers rolled at the Augusta Civic Center.
Hunter Cuddy added 16 points for Forest Hills (3-0).
Gilboe also contributed eight rebounds and five assists while Kenn VitoCruz had 10 rebounds.
North Haven (1-2) got a 19-point effort from Tyrese Edwards.
VALLEY 70, RANGELEY 45: Josh Brown scored 20 points and Keegan Farnham added 15 as the Cavaliers rolled past Rangeley in a D South game in Rangeley.
Dillon Bean scored 10 points for Valley (2-0) as well.
Kyle LaRochelle scored a team-high 15 points for the Lakers (0-1).
ERSKINE 79, CONY 56: The Eagles went 27-for-28 from the free throw line and pulled away with a 12-0 run to end the third quarter in a KVAC A win in Augusta.
Jack Jowett scored 29 points for Erskine (1-1), while Braden Soule added 20.
Jordan Roddy had 13 points to pace Cony (0-2).
