It’s that time of year again when the “bah humbugers” come out of the woodwork. They are down on everything pro-Christmas. They “holiday” this, “seasonal” that and turn up their noses at “Merry Christmas.” However, President Donald J. Trump, the leader of the free world, has declared several times recently that in America, “we’re going to say Merry Christmas again.” Thank you, Mr. President.
Have you ever stopped to think that Christmas is not even an American holiday? On Dec. 25 the whole world stops to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ even in those societies where Christian celebrations are strictly forbidden under fear of death. So bah humbug on the naysayers.
In the Bible when the angel announced the birth of Christ to the shepherds, it is recorded that a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
In this world of war and turmoil, how could anyone be against peace to men?
So, this Christmas, let’s one and all wish each other peace by saying “Merry Christmas” to all our family, friends and strangers we meet along the way.
