Conservative Republicans who favor big business and smaller government scored a major win with their tax giveaway for major corporations. This is a planned starvation diet to shrink government.

Reduction of income tax results in reduction of tax income. The shortfall increases the national debt and decreases funds available for important governmental activities. Expect to see reduction in support of infrastructure, education, research and development, health, the environment, and international programs.

The claim that tax cuts will pay for themselves through increased growth of the economy has been proven false in the case of the Reagan and George W. Bush cuts, and most recently, in Kansas. Sen. Susan Collins’ faith in Reaganomics is no more rational than belief in the tooth fairy.
